God the Megalomaniac
As parents, all we want for our kids is happiness. We want them to be content and comfortable. We work hark hard for their sake, so they can eat and dress. Do we want them to cower at our presence?do we want them to call us darling papa and mama every other time? is that our priority concerning them? Do we want them to regard us as powerful masters/guardians? For most of us, not at all. As I said earlier, all we want is for them to be happy and secure.
But this is not the case for the god of the bible. He has a thirst for praises. He wants us to bow on our knees admitting our filthiness and begging him for mercy. He wants us to sing praises for him every other time and he wants us to declare that there is none other greater than him and that he is the creator of everything? Why? Why should we bow to him if he created the world so effortlessly and allegedly, so naturally? It does not make sense where his megalomania stems from. If it is true that he is so great and omnipotent, why does he have the desire to be feared and worshiped by his underlings? His obsession with power bears so many similarities with the tyrants and dictators of this world.
Check out these verses that reek of selfishness and megalomia
Revelation 4:8-11 Each of the four living creatures had 6 wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under it's wings. Day and night they never stop saying " Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.
Revelation 19:4-5 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, and they cried "Amen, Hallelujah!"Then a voice came from the throne saying "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small (is the god of the bible praising himself here?Lol!)
His obsession with power makes him a god that deserves disdain instead of praise according to me.
