Christianity is Not Good for Africa

Christianity was imposed on Africans by colonizers, so was Islam. Before the coming of the colonizers, there were medicine men, rain makers, prophets among others. There was a seamless spiritual organization. History confirms that it was painful for them to leave their spiritual foundations and turn to Christianity. In the long run, they finally let go of their African religions and embraced the bible.

Ever since the bible was accepted, many denominations came up. Some prohibiting the use of medicine and others suppressing the rights of the woman. The clergy men then realized that preaching was a goldmine, and a myriad of churches have been sprouting up. The primary cause of the collision between churches and church members is money collected from offerings and tithes. I myself have witnessed rivalry between two pastors, apparently the two had churches a few meters from each other and they were pursuing people from the same area. Statements of "We are taking over town X" were rife from the 2 churches. Such statements did not sit well with me, it sounded selfish and competitive.

Many people in Africa venerate may men and women of God and exhibit obsequiousness close to stupidity. Pastors have been able to wheedle millions of cash from congregants in the name of sacrifice and obedience to God. Prosperity preaching has led to more poverty as opposed to more riches, and it will take many years before they realize the senselessness of it all.
